“A sporting performance: go-live in 10 months.”

Textilveredlung Keller GmbH from Mössingen, at the foot of the Swabian Jura, is a family-run, modern and forward-looking commission finishing company. It shares with Halo not only the colour yellow but also decades of experience in textile manufacturing.

40 years of experience across three generations distinguish the Keller company. Over the years it became increasingly clear that the Access database solution once developed specifically for Keller was reaching its limits. The decision for a new solution as part of an inteos® project was made on the condition that the project should take no more than one year and that most of the data should be transferred automatically. This was to relieve the Keller team during the project and keep manual office work to a minimum at go-live. Halo fully met these requirements, which are reminiscent of motorsport.

The close cooperation between Konstantin Keller, Operations Manager of Textilveredlung Keller GmbH, and Bernhard Mähr, project manager at inteos®, contributed significantly to the success of the project. The mobile and digital networking of the two partners in particular added to the speed, so that only a few on-site meetings were necessary.

Digitalization of all processes including certificate management

How does it work?

The scope of the project covers every point in a commission finisher’s textile chain, from goods receipt, scheduling, fabric preparation, dyeing and finishing to fabric inspection and the laboratory, including quality testing. Only the interfaces were initially excluded for the go-live date. These interfaces, from EDI with customers and SEDO dyehouse control to Intrastat, were implemented during the first quarter of 2024. Everything else was ready in November 2023.

This required the entire data stock to be transferred automatically from the Access system to inteos®. The inteos® ERP system generally offers a wide range of interfaces and connections to other systems, an advantage that considerably reduces the administrative effort of manual data entry. In the Keller project, the entire Access database was analysed in close cooperation. The import was tested together repeatedly, and the process was optimized several times up to the final go-live. Even the finest details, such as the setting data for the overfeed of the stenter frames, were taken into account.

“Halo’s individual solution grows with us, adapts more and more to our needs and supports our vision of Industry 4.0.
Choosing inteos® ERP and MES is not only about software solutions but about the continuous improvement process of the entire company.”

“The project, its duration and the comprehensive import from Access are reminiscent of motorsport. During meetings it was mentioned jokingly again and again that I would be given a Ferrari if the project took less than a year. We started with a kick-off meeting in February 2023 and went live in November 2023. Shortly before Christmas, the promised Ferrari for our slot-car track arrived in the post. I was very pleased with this present.”

Choosing inteos® ERP and MES is not only about software solutions but about the continuous improvement process of the entire company.

Benefits for Textilveredlung Keller

For Textilveredlung Keller it was clear that the existing Access system was not sufficiently future-proof. The requirements and the data volumes had become too large, so only a genuine SQL database solution was an option. Thanks to the success of the project, Keller can now continue seamlessly with inteos® where the Access database reached its limits. At the same time, new possibilities with mobile scanners bring benefits that would have been unthinkable with the Access database. Because Keller’s customers also use inteos®, so that inteos® talks to inteos®, efficiency increases further.
Thanks to the integrated certificate management, the production process and the chemicals used in it are fully traceable and can be documented by means of a transaction certificate. The SEDO interface enables the exchange of recipes, the automatic booking of actual consumption quantities and the optimization of purchasing, and it also guarantees complete traceability.

At Keller GmbH, process requirements were also communicated by video. Packing at the stenter frame, including weighing and labelling, in a record time of just a few seconds is reminiscent of Formula 1 and was integrated unchanged into inteos®, drawing on Keller’s decades of experience. In this way, proven practice was preserved while new opportunities for the future were created.
